“Australia’s history is rich with the contributions of women whose acts of service, generosity and care have strengthened our communities.”
Her Excellency the Honourable Sam Mostyn AC, Governor-General of Australia
On Tuesday, 24 February, on the lawn at Admiralty House in Sydney, she described the assembled guests as “a gift”.
The Governor-General was launching She Gives: Growing Women’s Giving in Australia, alongside She Gives founder Melissa Smith. The lawn was filled with women from every sector and every corner of the country – women who give their time, money and skills to strengthen our communities.
Brain Cancer Australia Founder and Director, Robyn Leonard OAM, attended the event.
"It was an honour to be there and to hear so many women speak to a similar sentiment – that while the instinct may be to keep your head down, the desire to rise up and address the biggest challenges facing our society is even stronger," said Robyn.
The She Gives report presents national data and insights into women’s philanthropy in Australia, highlighting both its current impact and future potential. The findings reinforce the role women play in Australia’s charitable decision-making and the fact they are set to control much of the nation’s $5.4 trillion wealth transfer, shaping where money flows in the decades ahead.
Brain Cancer Australia welcomes the momentum generated by this research and looks forward to seeing its impact continue to grow.
