Professor Hui Gan
Congratulations to Professor Hui Gan on his appointment as Chair of COGNO, the Cooperative Trials Group for Neuro-Oncology.
The appointment was announced at the recent COGNO Annual Scientific Meeting in Adelaide.
Hui succeeds Associate Professor Eng-Siew Koh, who served as COGNO Chair for the past six years.
A leader in brain cancer research, Hui is Head of the Cancer Therapies and Biology Laboratory and Co-Director of the Centre for Research Excellence in Brain Cancer at the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research Institute, and Director of the Cancer Clinical Trials Centre at Austin Health.
He has been a member of the Brain Cancer Australia National Consortium since its establishment in 2015. He has served on the Steering Committee and is currently a member of the Australian Brain Cancer Registry Management Committee.
Hui believes Australia has the opportunity to be a world leader in brain cancer research.
“We have so much potential here,” Hui said. “We just need to bring all the pieces together — biobanking, trials, scientific research — and I think in the next few years, we’ll start to see real progress.”
