Fund the fight against brain cancer
Brain cancer is a devastating disease that takes the lives of too many Australians, too quickly. Many of them are children and young people under 40 – leaving grieving families and unfulfilled potential.
Brain Cancer Australia won’t accept that there are still so few treatments for brain cancers, or improvements in life expectancy.
We have a plan to defeat brain cancer, and we need your help to do it.
Your donation will help build the research infrastructure that’s been missing for too long, and rapidly increase the rate of breakthroughs.
You will improve outcomes for brain cancer patients almost immediately, support continuous development of life-saving new treatments – and help end the suffering and loss brain cancer causes.
Get involved and help save lives
Defeating brain cancer is a team effort. There are lots of ways you can help build support and raise vital funds. So have a look at the ideas below, think about who else you can involve, and hit that ‘create a fundraiser’ button. You’ll be on your way to getting lifesaving treatments and care to people with brain cancer even sooner.
Take on a challenge
Get your friends, family members and colleagues to sponsor you as you take on a challenge. Whether you're a fan of simplicity or an adrenaline junkie, there's a way to contribute. Here are some suggestions:
- A Lego marathon or dominoes creation
- A silly (but safe) dare – use your imagination here
- Complete a long walk/bike ride/swim/scoot
You could also give up something you love for a specific time. A favourite food or drink, perhaps? It’s one way to show solidarity with people who often have to give up much during their treatment.
Host an event
You can have a terrific time and raise funds for brain cancer research at the same time. Your event can be in person or online. Once you’ve organised the perfect event, start inviting everyone. Ask for an ‘admission’ gift and/or donation. And reach out to Brain Cancer Australia if you want a guest speaker at your event too.
- Hold a party with a distinctive theme
- Host a trivia evening
- Do something unique, like a car rally or a rejuvenating morning yoga session.
Make it a school thing
If a child, parent or teacher in your school community has been impacted by brain cancer, rally the students to support brain cancer research. From hosting sausage sizzles to organising crazy hat days, there are countless ways to make a difference. And with the support from the broader community, you can truly contribute to this important cause.
- Host a sausage sizzle at lunchtime
- Sports competitions— fun run, school walkathon
- Mufti day or crazy hat day
Involve your colleagues
Collaborate and contribute together with your colleagues! Take a look at your company's charity policies and then get your colleagues involved in spreading the word and kickstarting the fundraising process. We've got a few suggestions to help you get things rolling:
- Set up a breakfast or morning tea
- Donate a day’s wages
- Ask your company to match any funds raised
Give a greater gift
Make a meaningful impact by making a donation in lieu! Instead of that birthday or Christmas present, why not ask your family and friends to make a donation? Your generous gift could lead to significant breakthroughs for the brain cancer community. All you need to do is set up your fundraising page and share the link along with your message.
