"Australia has the potential to lead the world in delivering new technologies and treatments, but we can’t achieve that without the right infrastructure.”

Professor Claire Wakefield

Professor Claire Wakefield continues her important work on a global stage.

Brain Cancer Australia Naitonal Consortium Member Professor Claire Wakefield has been appointed Director of Research at the Division of Quality of Life and Pediatric Palliative Care and Director of the QoLA Lab at Stanford University.

Claire has been a valued member of our National Consortium since 2020. A clinical psychologist and researcher, Claire joined the consortium to support an approach that spans the full lifespan of brain cancer patients — breaking down traditional silos between paediatric and adult healthcare.

“The projects underway through the consortium are absolutely critical because infrastructure is essential for making groundbreaking discoveries. I want to see a future where researchers have access to the data they need to answer important research questions, and patients can trust that their data is being used for the most rigorous and ethical research,” says Claire.

"Australia has the potential to lead the world in delivering new technologies and treatments, but we can’t achieve that without the right infrastructure.”

In her new role, Claire will lead research to improve quality of life for all children with serious illness and their families.

We thank Claire for her ongoing contribution to Brain Cancer Australia’s National Consortium, congratulate her on her appointments and wish her all the best as she continues her important work on a global stage.
