"I want to help create a future where families like mine have more options."
Bay Warburton
Brain Cancer Australia is pleased to welcome Bay Warburton to its Board.
Bay is a senior executive with more than 30 years’ experience across the public, private and not-for-profit sectors, bringing significant expertise in government engagement, public policy, strategy and organisational leadership.
He currently serves as Executive Director, Community Services at Wesley Mission. His previous leadership roles include Chief of Staff to the NSW Premier Mike Baird during his time as Treasurer and Premier, Interim CEO of CatholicCare Sydney, General Manager at HammondCare at Home, and Head of Stakeholder Relations at Mirvac. Bay also brings extensive governance experience, having served on a range of education and not-for-profit boards, including in chair positions.
Bay also brings a personal connection to the cause. In 2023, his wife, Em, was diagnosed with brain cancer.
“Em is thriving today thanks to the exceptional care and support she has received. But it’s difficult to sit in those follow-up appointments and hear that there is little on the horizon in terms of research progress,” he said.
“I joined Brain Cancer Australia’s Board because I want to help create a future where families like mine have more options. Brain Cancer Australia is taking a practical, whole-of-Australia approach by building the national infrastructure needed to speed up research and improve patient care.”
Brain Cancer Australia Founder and Director Robyn Leonard OAM said she was delighted to welcome Bay to the Board.
“Bay brings extensive leadership experience across government, business and the community sector,” Robyn said.
“Importantly, he also brings a personal connection to our mission. His understanding of the impact brain cancer has on patients and families, combined with his professional expertise driving meaningful change in complex organisations, will be a valuable addition to Brain Cancer Australia.”
