For people with brain cancer, time has stood still.

Today, 1 May, marks the beginning of Brain Cancer Awareness Month — and Brain Cancer Australia is calling on the community to help change the future of this devastating disease.

In 40 years, so much has changed – but one thing tragically remains the same. Brain cancer survival rates.

Despite advances across many cancers, progress in brain cancer has been painfully slow. For patients and families, that means lives are still being cut short while they wait for breakthroughs.

This is unacceptable — and it’s why Brain Cancer Australia has launched a national appeal to accelerate progress.

"With the support of the community, Brain Cancer Australia can develop the urgently needed infrastructure that will improve patient care and accelerate the pace of research - benefiting the entire brain cancer community," says Robyn Leonard, Founder and Director of Brain Cancer Australia.

"This is about national data, shared tissue samples, systems to enrol patients in research, and enabling data-driven trials that are fast and cost-effective. It’s work that isn’t glamorous or headline-grabbing — but absolutely essential in driving innovation and collaboration."

Funds raised through the appeal will support three infrastructure platforms that give researchers and doctors the resources they need to unlock life-changing treatments and deliver best practice care.

This Brain Cancer Awareness Month, you can help change what the next 40 years look like.

Please, give now to fund more brain cancer breakthroughs — faster.
