Brain Cancer Australia announced as the 2025 Andrew Olle Media Lecture charity partner.

Brain Cancer Australia is proud to once again be the charity partner for the Andrew Olle Media Lecture — an event that honours Andrew Olle’s legacy as a journalist and raises awareness for the disease that took his life.

In 1995, beloved ABC broadcaster Andrew Olle died suddenly at age 47 from an undiagnosed brain tumour. Thirty years on, survival rates for brain cancer remain devastatingly low.

“Brain cancer remains one of the deadliest cancers, and it’s unacceptable that survival rates have barely changed in the 30 years since we lost Andrew Olle to this devastating disease,” said Robyn Leonard, Founder and Director of Brain Cancer Australia.

“The Andrew Olle Media Lecture plays a vital role in raising both awareness and funds to support our mission. Brain Cancer Australia is building the infrastructure, collaboration and national momentum that will drive breakthroughs in brain cancer – and bring hope to patients and their families.”

This year’s lecture will be delivered by Geraldine Doogue AO, one of Australia’s most respected journalists, known for her decades-long career in print, radio and television.

The event will take place on Friday 25 July at the W Hotel, Darling Harbour. Donations made on the night will support Brain Cancer Australia’s work to transform outcomes for people affected by brain cancer.
